Are these good examples of rule of thirds? I was thinking of using one of them for assignment 5. I like the boys holding hands the best.
Thanks

Hi Leanne. I would say that the first shot of your boys doesn't fit well for ROT. It's true that they are at thirds in the vertical, but there is no real horizontal influence. Plus the two boys are both the subject. And together, they are in the middle of the crop. Very nice capture.

The second one is better and I think it might work. But again you have two subjects, where together they are in the centerish of the frame. Now, the composition is much better than the first, and may very well fit, but I'm on the fence :) with it. It is a cute shot.

Before you consider these, consider this: Capture an image that has one subject that really stands out, and apply the ROT to that, with perhaps a blurry background to really isolate the subject.

Another try for the rule of thirds. Does this one fit?

I think this one fits much better. I also like how you didn't try and straighten the fence to the frame. I personally like it angled off like that.
