Just wanted to post this as a challenge to everyone. There are times, many times probably, that a good photo goes bad on you. Meaning you think you captured a great shot, just to get it in the computer, and a closer look reveals show stoppers, like the following image. This is also a follow up to Leanne's thread about editing assignments, and trying to get the image as correct as you can in camera as to spend less time in PS. Here's an example of when in camera correctness just didn't happen, and in steps PS and a little vision.
A few years ago I was excited to see a few tree frogs I grabbed my camera and did a few quick shots. I thought they would be good photos. Once in the computer I realized the focus was way off. It could have been that I had it in manual focus and thought otherwise and shot away. Well they were all just out of focus enough to be destined for the recycle.
Then after many months I ran across them again, and was getting ready to can them when I decided to work one in PS a little. After playing with the filters, I came up with this.
Now I know this photo art may not be everyones cup of tea, but the point of this is, if there is something about an image that you love, like I did with the composition of this photo, but there is a show stopper like focus or other, try to do something with it anyway and see what you get. Don't be quick to throw out a photo that might be savable.
In the end, this is one of my all time favorite photo art and abstract images, made from the reject pile.
