I know these aren't the best quality, but it was my first try at trying to macro ants. Let me just tell ya how hard this is to try and get a few of these little beasts to stop moving for a second. hehe. I plan on doing much more ant shots and hope to get some cleaner shots next time. It's amazing the composition you can get from their little ant hills. I'm sure this is similar to water drops where you can't get away from the learning curve.

Hey Joseph, that second one is pretty darn awesome. You know how we are taught in school that an ant can pick up its weight (or is it more than its weight, I forget!). This would be an awesome image for your daughter to take to show and tell when she gets to school.

Thanks Mary. I like the composition of them, but like I said, it was my first try at these so technically I know they aren't macro worthy. I'm very picky about making sure macros are as razor sharp as I can get them, and these fall way short. I hope to get better at these cause I think they could be wonderful shots when dialed in. And yes, my position on the ground made more than a few people do a double take. This was hand holding also, so I'm sure there was camera shake induced. When I have time to do a proper set up I will be tripodding it.

Ants can pick up 10-50x it's weight, At 20x it would be like a second grader picking up a car! That's from a site I read. Crazy.
