So if you have a little money to burn, have a look at this link:

Yeah - I've seen this one before, they've had it for quite awhile. In fact, hubby used to say "sure honey, you can get whatever you want for your hobby", but when he saw that I wanted to add this to my collection, he sure changed his tune in a hurry and said ABSOLUTELY NOT!!!

Geeze-a-loo man. By the time you got that behemoth set up and focused you could be much closer to the subject with a smaller lens and get the same shot for a fraction of the cost. lol. Thats a honkin lens

BTW, Sigma had a 1200mm F/2.8 lens that comes with a 2X teleconverter making it a 2400mm lens! Its only 1-2 inches bigger, but it is about 7 pounds heavier!
BTW, the poorman's 1500mm lens *is* possible to get and also take some really amazing shots. The trick is to use a Nikon camera (not available for Canon users as far as I know), and get the following:
- FSA-L1 adapter (about $300us)
- 1500mm fieldscope from Nikon (http://www.nikon.com/products/sportoptics/lineup/dsystem/fsa-l1/index.htm) for under $1300
And there you go, a manual focus setup for 1500mm ranges all for under $1700 delivered.
