John...I think this is beautiful! You captured the night lights wonderfully and the composition is great! You have the sky in the top third and the Dome is in the mid third in both direction..horizontally and vertically. I think its a wonderful capture and don't see how it could be improved any!

Would love to see more images of this beautiful city..makes me think I'm a world traveler.:)

John, I also think it is an absolutely beautiful shot, and agree with Mary.

Ahh.... beautiful shot and beautiful city. I was there last Spring and have many wonderful memories.

I'm also using a non-DSLR camera, definitely not as good as yours though! I can see that in order to take good photos you don't necessarily need expensive equipment. So thank you for that, you've given me hope!

John - I agree with Mary and Kaye. This is a wonderful shot and the lighting "makes" the shot.

Verikos - just remember the first rule of photography: It's not the camera that makes the shot, it's the photographer pushing the button. I have seen some great shots coming from non-DSLR cameras.

I held out for many years but just a month ago took the plunge into DSLR as you see from my signature.
The 'Cover Girl' advertisements on TV made me do it (".... because I am worth it" LMAO)
I am just hoping I can get out more to use it ...........

Hi John
Beautiful shot, and I agree withy all that has been said before. I might have taken a second shot (tripod needed) and exposed for the sky to blacken it a little and then combined the 2 in photoshop to get a much darker sky. On the whole beautiful!
Regards
Jim

John,

I agree with the others that this is a beautiful shot. If I were inclined to play with it a bit, and I'm not certain that I would, I might play with the white balance setting and/or color balance just a bit to see if I could gently tone down the yellow hue from the lights. Thanks for sharing this shot.

Very nice image. Couple of small things I find a little distracting.IMHO

1. Various lights in the background that IMO could be cloned out.
2. The overall orange glow, easily fixed in PS

The IQ for a point and shoot is great :):)you did well

Hope you don't mind, just, hopefully to demonstrate what I was saying in my earlier post, a quick edit.

1. Adjusted the crop slightly
2. Re-balanced the color
3. Go rid of some of the distracting marks/lights
4. Re sharpened
