Sebastian Inlet is about a 40 minute drive from my home.
One of the better known surfing spots on the US east coast, nice day with clear water and great surfing!

Hi Tim, great shots its hard to pick a favourite because I like them all but if I had to, I think I would go with 5, the top of the wave looks like ice, and the way it is curling over looks great, even without the surfer it would be excellent. But for an action shot I like 3 and 8, 3 for me probably just pips the post because of the crispness of both surfer and the spray , but I do like them all,
Can I ask what lens you used, I suppose the great light you get helps get the shutter speed up.

Thanks Kinetic!

Also using a D300 myself.
These were shot with the Nikkor 80-400 AF VR lens.

Yes, the well lit day helps in that I can shoot at faster
speeds to freeze the action a little.

Photo#1 makes me almost hear the wave and the board ripping across the water.
They're all equally impressive... but #1 produces a subconscious audio track. :D

Tim - these are great shots. I have never associated surfing with Florida. My fav is #3.

Outstanding shots.
The clarity is great and the details are scattered all over the place.

Hi Tim,
I am glad this post showed up again, as these are absolutely fabulous shots. Love the first, which then leads into the second... but love them all - all beautiful, great clarity.
I would like to know where you were positioned to get these shots ???

Thanks again all!!

Kaye and Dr.Jazz,
Here is a google earth view of Sebastian Inlet. The best waves break right near the jetty so you can shoot from the beach or from the jetty itself which provides an interesting angle.

Here's a couple looking towards the jetty:

Thanks Tim, very informative. Love all these pics as well.
And here's me thinking you were neck high in the water with camera in hand getting these beautiful shots !!

Great shots and I wish the water was warm enough here to even think about a spring suit. My toes and fingers went numb yesterday after about an hour.

Keep 'em coming,
