Thought I would try my hand at the smoke art thing. Keep in mind this is only my second try so there is so much room here to improve. And of course my editing on this is in diapers. But it is a lot of fun to upload to the computer and see what you actually captured.

Very artistic!
How are the different colours achieved? Is it lighting or editing?

Thanks Anni. Like I said, this was my first real try it so there are some noise and other issues that are more apparent at 100%. But with some practice I hope to get some cleaner shots. All the color was added in PS. I think different colored lights would be a great thing to try too. Just takes a lot more set up and colored lights and stuff I don't have. Appreciate the comments.

Just playing with the smoke in PS...
This is really fascinating! It would seem that the possibilities are almost endless. My artistic abilities are somewhat limited, but this looks like an interesting project for next winter.
Thanks for sharing this.
Very cool, Joseph. Looks like a rose at the top of the first. The others resemble abstract hip xrays and a masquerade mask. I've always wondered what the purpose of those geometric mirroring filters was, generally considering the results of using them uglier than sin, but they do add another dimension to the smoke art. I'll have to check this out sometime in the near future.

Thanks Jess, and it's always my pleasure to talk to everyone. I'm in diapers with this as well. I only posted this as a way to drum up some interest.

Thanks Pat...and yes, the images I posted here do look very much like an X-ray's. This is very new to me and figured there would be a huge learning curve. I've seen other images of this type that looks more like photo art than what I posted here. What I do is progressive. And it takes me a while to figure out where I want to go with an image. Once I get a run going though, I work on what I did previous. So I do appreciate the comments, and will keep that in mind. Thanks. I also saw the rose at the top there, thanks for that. If you look closer, you can see faces within these edits. This is what I saw when I was in edit, and hoped others would see it as well. Since there were no comments on this in particular, then I have to go back and see how I can better bring it out.

That's EXACTLY what I was thinking too!

Well, yes, in the series of three I could see sort of Space Alien-Skelator-Insectoid- Transformer faces, but I didn't want to scare anyone off. :)
