Hey... I need your help. My brother had to put down his Golden 2-3 months ago.
After cleaning out some "old" folders, I came across this photo taken in Nebraska a while back.

I want to send it to my brother with a some retouches; cropped better, fall colors punched, etc.
I would really like for the dog to stand out a bit more. Bottom line, I'm too emotional to work on
it myself. Rusty Bear was one of the greatest hunting dogs I've ever been around.

Thanks in advance.

Doug

Hey mr d. Here's a few variations including a pseudo oil, just for the halibut. I believe it was once traditional to have good hunters rendered in oil.

Pat... those are great.

I never knew the history behind the oil paintings. Very interesting!

Doug - I am very sorry to hear about your brother's dog. He is very lucky to have some like you to do something so special.

Here is my version. I thought maybe having a BW background would really highlight a good friend.

Doug, so sorry to hear the bad news. My sister had to put down her Golden around 6 months ago. It is taking her a long time to get over it.

As the others have posted several edits, I will submit something a little different in the case that you may like it. Bit rough, but I can spend more time on it if you like.

I'm sorry to hear that Doug. Happened to my sisters dog some months back, and I did the same thing for them. I waited a few months and gave them an edited framed image of when their little Clara was free of illness and looking alert and happy. He will love the thought certainly.

Here is my edit. I wanted to put focus on Rusty Bear and still give it a dreamy feel as if he was in dog heaven running free. I gave the majority of the image a radial blur, did some selective hue and saturation. I also gave the image a artsy feel with a touch of a painting. Also cropped it a touch. There is some posturization and blockyness in the sky. Didn't notice this until I uploaded it. That can always be fixed if I go back into it.

And also Doug, if you still don't want to edit this image yourself to send it off to him, and you like what I done to it here, please feel free to email me the original largest file you have of this and I would be happy to work on it for you and return it. I didn't save the PSD of this small file but could duplicate it with a new larger copy. Just an idea. Take care.

First image is the original, second it the edit, and third is the same edit with a some light looking down at him.

He looked like a lovely dog, any of the edits would be a lovely gift for your brother.
I was thinking more about the cropping, get him right in the frame, with out loosing the background. :)

Thank you ALL for contributing in this edit.
Honestly, I'm a bit overwhelmed. They are all pretty
spectacular. Your efforts were time consuming... I know
for myself. It simply speaks volumes of "class" that's
represented here.

Hi Doug :^)

This was a truly nice edit for me to spend time with! I understand what you're brother is feeling in a shared intimate
way. His golden reminds me of my Chelsea, who ran along side me for the better part of 13 years. She was a most
warm hearted Golden who kept me company though meeting my wife, and through the early years of our raising two
children. I didn't crop the photo at all since I loved this background and setting... it was in such a setting that my own
golden would spark alive and feel the most free, invigorated and most obviously at home.....

Thank you for posting this image Doug.....!
