An old photographer once told me that it is senseless to spend money to upgrade camera bodies unless your current body can't do some of the things you need.
I am afraid I have reached that point with my 5D. The IQ is great, and I have been very happy with this camera. BUT........I am really frustrating myself trying to capture birds in flight. I need the ability to shoot rapid bursts and improved AF. The AF on the 5D is fine for most everything else.
So, I have been looking long and hard at a 1DIII. Today I found a factory refurbished one at a very reasonable price and with all the upgrades and a full factory warranty - I couldn't resist.
I think my skill level has finally improved to the point where I can do justice to this camera - I guess I will find out soon!
