... but in a hallway! :)

I attended the last Montreal strobist event, and this time it was bigger than ever. With 163 models, photographers and observers crammed in 3 studios, I decided to place photography at the bottom of the list and instead do some networking with the models and other photographers... but then thought I would do something different as well. I stayed in the near empty hallways outside where the studios were and as the odd model changed location and moved from room to room, I asked her to take a few shots with me.

Fantastic Slide Presentation - love the photo's with the Harley!

Were those taken with "flash" or with video lights, as seen with
the gentlemen around the Harley and model sitting on it. Really
good material, and quite honestly, very inspiring, Jerry.

Well, this was at a local strobist meet and if I came in there with video lights, I think they would all beat me to death with their lightstands... lol

Seriously, it was 2 light stands, one with an umbrella and one bare flash as you can tell in the pics.

Lately I am finding that simplicity is where it is at. I was at a friend's place and we set up a fast photo shoot of his kids and my fav result again came from one bare speedlight.

I sometimes get into these "ok let's do a 6, 7 or 8 light" setup, but I keep coming back to the 1-3 speedlights and enjoying it more. A couple days ago, I popped for two more SB-900 flashes, but thats to cover me for the weddings that I will be doing this year, and I had the budget, so why not. :)

I suppose simple works, but I still am a hardware geek at heart... lol

Love the "prayer portrait" shot. Can't wait to learn that aspect of photography.
