Here are my five. As part of this project, can a member submit an outside link to a personal web page or stock site to help promote ones images? Thanks, Joseph
Also, I noticed on the current PP showcase image thumbs that they are square in dimensions. Are you looking for images that are square in format? I'm hoping that the showcased images thumbs will stay in it's original dimensions cause it will change the composition if they are cropped in any way. Thanks

I'm sure I could find 1-2 images in there to offer something.
Once I get back from my vacation (next couple days), I'll whip something up. :)

That cookie monster inside the jar with the cookies outside just speaks to me on SO many different levels! :D
Don't be embarrassed, we all started at exactly the same level. ;) Just participate and enjoy.

Sorry, Jerry, but I'm afraid I have to agree with patnanna. From the member galleries I have viewed on here, you and Coffee are in the upper echelon, in my opinion. It's kind of like asking someone to look at your Ford Focus after they just showed you their Lexus. I have enjoyed the course and while I do feel my skills have improved, seeing your photos motivates me to continue my quest. Thanks for sharing your work and knowledge to all of the forum members.

I would love to post my pictures I have used for this class, but I am unsure of how to point to the submitted ones. Do I just use a copy I have on my computer or can you go into my account and take what you want. I give you permission to pick what you think works from my classwork.

Patnanna,
Check out the thread "How To Send Photos in the Forum". It will show you how to add your photos. If you have trouble, send me a message offline and I will be glad to help.

Here are some of my pics. I will take Jerry's advice and try not to be embarrassed by the inferior quality of my photos. If anyone has any advice on how to make these better, I'd love to hear it.

Great images Eddie. I especially love the silhouette as well as the last one. Nice perspective. And Jerry, the last one of your, the kissing shot with the light between them is just fantastic.
I would like to comment to the one's that don't want to post because they don't think they measure up. Every one of us doesn't think we are as good as the next guy. There will always be someone better at something than every one of us here. However, don't let that stop you from biting the bullet and participating if it interests you. I bit the bullet too. There is much more to an image than most think. One of my favorite things to do is to look at members images. I find something good in almost every one I see here on PP. We are all at different levels in our photography hobby, and I know we all want to get better. That's why we are here.
One thing that is important to remember: Most can't appreciate their own photography as much as an unexpecting viewer. Family photo's not included of course. No one thinks they measure up enough most of the time. Photography is an art that everyone views differently. Bite the bullet on this one if you would like to submit your images as admin has requested. And if you just can't get by thinking you aren't good enough, then send him you images instead of posting them like he said you could. Let him be the judge if he thinks they are polished enough to post on the PP showcase.

Thank you, Joseph. And well said, there will always be someone who is better at something than someone else. I, too, enjoy looking at the photos here on PP and I frequently find sources of inspiration for my next outing. I, as well as many others I would presume, want to improve my photography, but one thing I try to keep in mind is that the race to get better is only with myself. That is why I am grateful there are people like you on here willing to freely share their knowledge and experience. Much appreciated.

I will bit the bullet and be that risk taker. I am looking for help in making my pictures stand out like the ones I see on this site. I want my pictures to "pop" like Coffee's and Jerry's. Your colors are so vibrant. Here are some of my pictures I used for class. Thanks for all your notes and suggestions.

Hi Patnanna,
Those are some nice shots! One tip I have found quite useful is to try and take photos around sunrise or sunset. The sun being right overhead can be quite harsh and lead to overexposure. That being said, I also understand that photo opportunities with children come at all hours of the day. I have found that Photoshop can help bring out some of the details that may be hiding. Respectfully, since this is not a forum for editing photos, I did not do so. However, I would be happy to take a stab at it, if you like. Keep up the good work.

Here you go. I made some adjustments with the highlights and shadows on all four images as well as the contrast. I also adjusted the brightness on the black and white photos. I wasn't able to do that much with it as I am still playing around with black and white edits. With the color photos, I added a bit of color correction and a slight saturation. I also cropped the photo of the boy to give it a different look.

It is too bad that you feel this way. We all started at the same level, meaning little to no knowledge or skill in this hobby, and worked our way up. I was an advanced beginner when I took the course and it did help me right away, enough that I could see the improvement. I then literally threw myself into this hobby with the intention of slowly turning professional over time (this will happen next year, I am seeing clients this year for bookings next year).
Personally, I would not let the shots of someone else intimidate me, we are not here to impress ourselves with our shots, but to share, learn and have fun... the most important, IMHO, is the last one. :)
No one is forcing you, and if you do not wish to post, then do not... I don't want to give the impression that this is mandatory... I am sure Peter and the crew feel the same, they just want a little promotional material. :)
Have a great day!
EDIT:
Ok... I do not know what you were afraid of, those are some nice shots, eyerksih! Where along the course are you at? Have you finished, just started or somewhere in the middle?

Hi Jerry,
I appreciate the feedback and perhaps I did not articulate my thoughts accurately. I'm not afraid to post my shots and when I see the work of others, such as yourself, that is of a higher quality than mine, it motivates me rather than intimidates me. All I was trying to say was that I could understand where patnanna was coming from all the while doing a terrible job of paying a compliment to you and Joseph. Your work is absolutely fantastic and I am confident you will have great success when you turn pro.
I have loved taking this course and I am currently on Lesson 10. I feel I have learned a lot since starting it a few months ago. I just wish I had more time to read up on all of the information that is available to help me improve. This hobby has turned into a passion and I simply cannot get enough of it. I find myself learning something new each time I take the camera out. I am going to Las Vegas this week and I am hoping to get out to a couple of different places to take some shots there so I can apply what I have learned thus far as well as learn some new lessons.
Have a great day!

If you would like some help working on some of your images, with an explanation of what was done, post those images in the "edit my photo" section of the forum and I'm sure a few of us would do what we can. Talk later.

Like I said before, we all get intimidated at times I think when we look at others images. But like you Eddie and most here, it's a great way to strike up interest, learn something new, get ideas from, and generally just enjoy looking at different styles. One neat thing about photography is every has different style, and subjects they like to take. There's a lot of overlap here, but we all work on our strengths and interest, and branch off from there. There is never enough time to do everything we want in photography, so make every minute count as you learn and go out shooting. But don't forget to have fun too. And regardless of what someone else is doing or has done, be proud of where you are at, and where you want to go with photography.

This is my first day as a student and I am a bit nervous because I see so many beautiful and creative pics here. I have never taken any classes before and have no training so my pictures may be quite ameture. I am going to post some pics I just took of my daughter for her sweet 16, and homecoming. I will also put in one of my grandson Devon eating a nectarine. Thank you for this exciting oportunity!

Not sure if this is still open but I will post a couple.. Im a beginner but hey why not...
I also agree that the photos posted are awesome, I don't feel mine compare at all. I've only had my Nikon D90 for about a month and YIKES I have a lot to learn. Are the photos that have been posted straight from the camera or are they "Enhanced" by an editing program. Either way they are fantastic.
Here are a couple of my very first photos using an SLR camera.
They sure don't compare to whats been posted so far....
Have always used a point and shoot in the past. No editing has been done. Comments are welcome.

You know, if you want to hear the truth, the last couple days I have just frustrated myself close to wanting to put the camera down, so instead of doing that I took a big long breath, did some soul searching and found that I was stressing the heck out of myself and I needed to stop that.
Once I did that, the fun came back for me, and I rededicated myself to improving. The first thing I did was totally delete the PP'ed photos of my last E-session and redid them all from scratch. I am now pleased with the results... not ecstatic, just pleased, and I know that next time, I will further improve, but I am at least back on track to improving.
