View Full Version : lens clunk?
i have a nikon 18-55mm VR lens. when using it withe VR on when i press the shutter the shutter works fine but is followed by a clunk and shift in the lens, my pics are sharp but it does'nt seem right, anyone any ideas?

Has it always done this? New lens?
not a new lens and as i shoot on tripod most of the time it may have always done it but did'nt know.
still waiting. can nobody help me?

Does the same thing happen while camera is hand held? You mention most of your shots are on a tri-pod. According to Nikon, VR should be turned off when the camera is tri-pod mounted.

What's to help? This is the VR gyros kicking in... and is normal. My 70-200 does this as well and it is strong enough that I both hear it and feel it in my left hand. My 18-200 does it even louder. ;)
The 18-55 lens is a kit lens, and hence a little lower on the quality scale, and could be a bit louder than it should... but it is nothing to concern yourself over.

thanks a lot for that. that was all the help i needed. as i have not had a vr lens before i di'nt know whether it was a fault or not. i am now at peace. thanks
