This is an abandoned dry dock shop and environs, located next to a cruise ship dock in Sydney, Nova Scotia, Canada.
And the rest of the story.....

Neat Pat. For me, I would never even think to take pictures somewheres like that!
In your second group of shots the second picture- the round thing  - I like that one!
Hi MJ. That is a gear mounted on a shaft. It stands six feet high lying at an angle, so I guesstimate the gear itself must be about eight feet in diameter.
Got your hay and oats in for the winter? Or do you even get winter in Virginia?

Nice images, Pat...I love taking shots of old stuff....not sure why they appeal to me, but they do and always have. I love the shot of the wheel with the light behind it.

Pat - what a wonderful playground for photography. And what a great series for B&W.

Hi Pat, that is one heck of a gear!!
Oh yes - they put the hay in back in June :)
Winter...I think it is worse than yours...at least where you are if it has to be cold you get snow with it up there!!
Thank you all. I do like to shoot things that might be out of the mainstream. I've been to this site a few times and it's slowly disappearing. It's somewhat ironic though, in that we used to have some beautiful old buildings here, Moxam Castle (yes, an actual old stone castle, only the Gatehouse remains), a huge old stone railroad hotel, and others that have been torn down years ago in the name of progress, yet dirty old industrial sites seem to linger for years.

Hi Pat, yes I am liking all of them very much, this is the kind of place I would
spend all day at and can imagine that with changing light conditions you would
get all sorts of neat shots as you have demonstrated very well Pat.
Excellent Pat and I look forward to future episodes.
