I too like both of them but I feel like they could have been better. I don't think that you have composition problem, on the contrary. I am no expert and don't know what the problem might be but I hope that you are just starting your lessons here and that you (and eventually me) will find what to change to make your snap go from wow to WOW!

I love the first shot... the city in the haze behind the "vacation spot" in the foreground. Makes me wish I had an escape so close to home.
Where was this shot?

I love the first one..pity there were people there otherwise it could be a bit land that time forgot! You know.....jungle type of scene but in the far off distance civilization beckons!

Hmm not sure I like the first shot. Sorry. Not sure why, it just seems a little too busy, my eyes dont know where to focus, The second one at first I thought hmmm perhaps if it was taken from a different angle but then on looking at it, I think the monument of the people works as a kind of lead in line the the city scape behind.
I like the second one. And that water looks really inviting :-)
