Hey guys,

Having a problem with my camera, When ever I take a photo of a light source it is being reflected.

I can see in the view finder before the image is taken then comes out on my photo's.

I have changed lenses, filter and even tried with no filters but the result is always the same.

Here is a sample:

What do you think this could be?

Another forum I used said lens flare but looking at how its reflecting the full light source I couldn't be sure it its considered as lens flare.

Thanks guys any help would be appreciated.

This is called ghosting or flaring and is a function of various things, mostly camera and lens quality being the main reasons.

Not much you can do about it besides avoiding those angles or changing to higher quality lenses or camera... and even then, sometimes it just cannot be avoided no matter what.

Thank you for your reply,

I contacted canon yesterday and got the guy on the phone to look at my flickr so he could see the image, When he did he's words was 'Oh my god! I have never seen anything like that.'.

He has forwarded the issue to another team to let them take a look to see if they could resolve the problem.

The one thing he did make clear though was that this is NOT lens flare and is most likely a problem with the camera.

So when I have heard back from them I be sure to post here :)

Again, Thank you!

Ok, I heard back from Canon today, They told me there is nothing they can do and the problem is called Secondary Reflections or better known as ghosting.

One way to solve the problem would be to invest in better lenses as the better ones have better coating to prevent such reflections although it may not always solve the problem.

So, Jerry was correct, Well done :)

I've seen lots of flare, ghosting and reflections, but I've never seen it duplicate the light source so clearly.
