View Full Version : Interpretation (Game)
Hi all,
For this game the Judge (Winner of the previous round) will pick a word/subject and everyone else will post a photo of something to their own interpretation of the word/subject.
This game is open for everyone regardless of photography skills or equipment.
Remember: Its your interpretation so if thats what the word/subject means to you then post it.
When you post an image try to post some details about your Camera, Lens and if you know it try to post brief EXIF data including ISO, shutter speed and aperture used.
Each game will stay open for exactly 7 Days and when the new Judge starts the game he/she must also post the date and time the game finishes.
When the time is up the Judge has 48 hours to pick the winner. If the winner has not been picked after this time then a guest judge can step in and pick a winner (Can not pick their self).
The winner then becomes the judge and the game starts again.
As always there must be rules that MUST be followed and they are as follows
You are free to use any image you own or have full rights to use.
You are encouraged to go out and take a new photo per game (Gives people a reason to get out and start shooting) but if you cant then by all means post an older one.
Do not use images which have previously won THIS game although you are free to use them if they have never won.
Feel free to use any post processing you like.
The Judges decision is final.
Only post images you own or have full rights to use. DO NOT steal other peoples work and pass it off as your own.
Do not discuss anything posted here within this thread, That way we can keep it easy to follow.
If you wish to discuss it then please use the discussion thread.
Note: These rules can update at anytime.
Ok, I shall start the game and I am sorry if the rules are confusing.

This sign is about 1/2k down the road. I took the pic in summer. The sign is real. All else is Photoshop.

Hi
I took this photo of Christmas in June, It is a all year round Xmas Shop not far from us.
This shot was taken from the outside window and has been Cropped Severe as there were many Reflections on it. I am afraid this was taken with the smaller of my 2 Cameras Casio Exilim on Auto Exposure (Sorry) this was just an off the cuff photo I never thought I would Use.
Sorry for quality:mad: But thought I would join in with the Fun !:)
All I want for Christmas is my two front teeth.....(and a nose and mouth)!!

ISO-400 F/4 1/16sec Taken under neon light at night.
At this time of year, I am sad to say I don't even have a shot of a nice Christmas Tree!!
Ok, These was great entries, Although not as many as I had hoped.
I struggled to pick a definate winner on this but I have chose Elaine (Sorted).
To me this entry is Christmas and I like the image a lot :)
Again though, Good entries and some great photoshop work done.
So, Over to you Elaine :) and Congratulations.

Hi Hype (Steve)
Thank you so much :)
Challenge: St Nicholas (Santa:))
This will keep us all in the festive mood.
End Date/Time 21st December 6pm GMT
Looking Forward to your Photo's.;) Xx
Here is the old man himself :)
The reason I chose this guy as my interpretation is because this santa was one my parent had when I was growing up and I loved it. I spent years talking my mum to give it over :) eventually she did. He represents Saint Nicholas to me.

This is a tough choice Kaye and Elaine......as sounds go, the ocean is mesmerizing
and the donkey is loud and demanding, so I have to give in to the donkey.
You're on Elaine....those were fun pics!

K's for Kaye :)
Whoops. My bad. Getting the games bemuddled.
Joy is cyber-meeting friends on Proud like Kaye,(he covered up smoothly).

Pure joy - the hippity hop!
Although it was Steve (Hype) who commenced the subject of JOY in this Interpretation game some time ago, as stated in the rules (somewhere ??), a new judge can step in and choose a winner if the current judge is not available, so I believe.
To keep the game moving, I hope you don't mind if I become the judge in this instance..
All entries were great (not real sure about Pat's!!), but I feel that Eddie's version of hippity hop really looks like joy to me.
So Eddie, now up to you for the next interpretation theme.

Thanks, Kaye! Alright, I know there are a lot of people who cannot wait for the snow season to be over with and since it is just around the corner, let's go with the challenge of Spring to give everyone something to look forward to.
This will close on Saturday, February 27. Can't wait to see your entries!
My version of Spring.
This shot has always reminded me of Spring, but we are now about to move to Autumn. I also like Autumn here in Sydney but do not like Winter. We do not even get any snow like many of you have had so much of this last season!

Okay, it's time to select a winner. This is tough because all of the pictures were great and I found myself daydreaming when I looked at each one. I think I am going to go with Kaye's entry because I really like the perspective. Congratulations, Kaye - over to you!
Thanks so much Eddie. As many of you are heading into Spring, (not me), and I love bright and happy colours, the theme for this game is BRIGHT & COLOURFUL. See you in a week for the winner!

The bright lights of Las Vegas!
The time has come for a decision.
I have 3 colourful shots here that are all wonderful.
Sandy, beautiful rainbow - the colours look great on my monitor. I find it is difficult to shoot rainbows, so congrats.
Eddie, this is a beautiful night shot of NY.
As I am a bit of an "IMELDA MARCOS" and love shoes, I feel I must go with Pat's lovely bright shoes for this one.
Over to you now Pat.
Thanks Kaye. OK, we've had warmth and joy and spring and light and I'm full of the warm fuzzies here so this week we're going to go with "dark" as in sombre, moody, lack of light or any possible permutation of the word. The Grand Prize will be awarded next Sunday.
eg....
Pat, here's one.
I remember this day at the beach. Upon arrival, the black clouds were coming in fast.
It lacks quality like your sombre shots above, but I don't have many sombre shots, which is probably good I guess. The storm passed and the weather did fine up within about 45 minutes after this shot.

How about some heavy nostalgia??
Love your "dark" images Pat......are you using any special filter on your camera?
Hi Sandy. I sent the reply to your query here. (http://www.proudphotography.com/forum/showpost.php?p=29127&postcount=25)
And (just for the heck of it) to link to a specific post, left click on the post number in the upper left corner (#25, or whatever) of the post then select "copy shortcut".
