Hi Alex,

I don't know a lot about the technical aspects, but I think the mood in your
photos is wonderful....I will guess that the second photo could be improved if
the horizon was straighter......to accentuate the tilt of the head......someone else
can agree or disagree there.....I love the light and the dramatic effect you have
there.
I think your love of photography shows.

I'm really drawn to that second image Alex. I love the composition of it, and the wonderment in her eyes.

Hi Alex. And welcome. Love the grainy look of these. Hands in headshots, are, I think, a difficult thing to pull off. There are some standard poses but at what point do they become overused. With your first shot I would have liked to see both eyes in focus, a little less hand (perhaps without the lower hand). Also, when a subject is looking to one side of the frame some space should be left on that side for the subject to look into.
I really like the second except that I think the hand could be just a little lower so as not to cover the mouth. Second to the eyes the mouth is the most expressive element of the face and should probably not be partially hidden unless the manner in which it is hidden is equally or otherwise expressive.
There are also a couple of hot pixels (white spots) on the left hand in both pics that should be edited out.
