hey everyone. well i'm a beginner at photography and i was wonder what a good camera is that i can get for around 400-500 dollars? and if it is worth it or should i wait and spend about 800?

I'd say wait a little, save your money and buy better SLR. Consider Nikon D40x for $620 or Canon EOS 400D / Digital Rebel XTi for about $670. Keep in mind that you'll be buying different lenses that cost money as well.

Always worth having a look on EBay to see if there is something that will do for you for the time being and then as you gain experience you can upgrade later.

The advice I was given was to buy an entry level SLR (I went for the Canon 400D) and if you 'take to photography' then upgrade later. The Entry level cameras are of a very good quality (being a beginner myself, not sure I would notice the differnce anyway). If you don't learn the basics than it doesn't matter how good your camera is, you still won't get great shots.
