Hi, anyone use filters on a regular basis? Or do you rely on PS?
I love polariser filter and have just started to use ND grads, I chose the Cokin System purely for financial reasons but I think when I become more confident in them I will go for Lee filters.
Looking forward to some replies Tom:cool:

I haven't used filters yet, but am looking forward to trying. A friend of mine just recommended the Cokin System--how do you like it?

Hi, the cokin system is great, it is affordable and easy to use, some people have moaned about scratching the filters but to be honest you gotta be pretty hamfisted to scratch them lol, I would defo recommend them as a start in the filter world:D

I'm using polarizer and a UV. I love polarizer. Turns the photo into a postcard.

I have a bird-feeding station outside my home office window so, I find using a polarizing filter almost a necessity. Since I enjoy macros and close-ups, I got a set of 4 lenses +1, +2, +4, Macro 10X. Just ordered a ND and a 80A Light-balancing (just to experiment). I also have a UV but, from what I've been reading, they aren't really necessary with a digicam. I suppose I SHOULD at least try it to see what happens (if anything).
Anyone have any input about the UV filter? And, is there any difference between a CIRCULAR polarizer and just a polarizer?

The UV filter will, if nothing else protect the front of your lens:D I don't use one as I found that it softened the image too much...maybe it is because of a cheap lens lol
I believe the difference between the circular and linear polarizers is the circular one needs to e rotated to get the effect you are looking for, I use a circular on my kit lens and it is great, although I do find it vignettes quite a lot.

I'm using a Kodak Z612 and the only time I get vignetting is when/if I use a filter or lens because I have to use an adapter tube. Most of the time I'm zoomed in on my subject so I don't get it. However, if I do a macro shot and don't touch the zoom a tad, I get it. Not a big deal, really.
Thanks for the info on the PL filter. Now I know I have a circular :D

I use a UV on my lense most of the time, like others have said to protect my lens more than anything. I have however just brought a cokin filter holder along with a series of filters so we will see how I go with them.
