View Full Version : Recent macros...
Four of these shots are types of lilies, but the 4th shot is the flower from a lemon tree.
Critique welcome.

Kaye, great shots ... the last flower looks like a calla lily instead of a lemon tree.... but I'm not very good with flowers.

These are all great shots - especially as you don't have a macro lens (hope I havn't confused you with somebody else who mentioned that)
Love them all....great detail and awesome colours!

Hi Kaye and hope you well.
Once again you are blowing my socks off with what you are producing with your
point & shoot, all the shots are excellent. You deserve to go onto a full DSLR and hope that you do soon, go for it Kaye.
Great shots.
Mark
Hi Melanie & Elaine,
Thank you both for your comments.
You are both correct. The last shot IS a lily.
It is the FOURTH shot that is the Lemon Tree flower!

Thank you Canasta for the lovely comments. Yes, it was me who mentioned about the macro lens in reply to one of your posts.

Nice series Kaye. The third shot blew me away. Perfect macro.
Hi MJ,
Thank you for your comment. The yellow day lily was also my favourite when I submitted them.

Joseph, I am so thrilled when I receive comments like yours above. It really gives one a "boost" in photography. Thank you so much.
I always seem to have a problem choosing my "best" shot in a series, as I took several shots of this "day lily". (I have noticed that you also have a day lily in your macro shots which I think is absolutely beautiful).
I have not had the time to edit many shots I have taken, (probably like most of us), but would like to attach another ORIGINAL of this lily (straight from my camera) and a cropped version of the same shot to see what you and other members think compared to the photo on P.1 which I edited a little IN CS2. I find I learn a lot from all of your comments/critique.
What I find strange with my camera, is that my macros seem to come out sharper/clearer when taken just a little further away - then I crop them, and the sharpness is "most often" there. My shot on P.1 is also a cropped version of it'soriginal.

I love them all Kaye. I agree with Mark...I would love to see what you could produce with a full dslr.
I envy the nature and wildlife that surrounds you.

Hi Kaye...looked at all three shots of the day lilly...I think the first shot on page one is the best...to me. I like the way you are kind of looking into the flower - the two new ones seem to be more from the side...they are still great, but as a comparison, I like the orignal one you posted best.

Wonderful series, Kaye....you do produce some magic with that camera of yours. Keep up the good work! You are making me very jealous.....we don't see anything here but dirty snow!

Of course !!! I just can't count LOL.... great shots
Thank you all for your great comments.
Johnny - when finances are better, I will certainly be buying a DSLR. Together with the nature and wildlife here, at present come the 40deg temperatures. Today and tomorrow are expected to be around 40!
MJ - I can see what you mean by the first lily when I compare the two.
Mary - again you are so kind. (Perhaps a good ad for Olympus P & S cameras!!) Just wait till Spring, and you can again get some more nature shots.
Melanie - I suppose I should really have put the one different flower (lemon) at the end to make it easier for viewing, rather than having to count.

These are simply beautiful, Kaye. I like #3 and #4 the best, but I am having a hard time choosing a favorite.
Thank you Eddie. I will post some more soon in a new thread.
