Hi Sandy

Nice photo but a little bit to busy for me not sure what to focus on .
Not an expert by no means so could be 100% wrong.
Love the tree , love the wooden chair not sure about the flowers.
The effect you have used looks good though.:)

Thanks Elaine!

I should probably post the original image .....a "before and after" comparison so
you can see what I might have done differently....I'll post the two images together
here. The first is before, and the 2nd is the image above, again.

I like the Orton Effect, Sandy. I have been playing around with it myself and have found that the effect either looks very good with one of my images or very bad. Not a lot of in between. Thanks for sharing.

Sandy, I also like Orton effect one better, although to me it seems to spoil the flowers on the tree.

Just for fun, you could select the tree in a separate layer, then do the Orton effect only on the background or background copy to see how it looks.

If the tree/flowers look too much out of place, then just add a minor touch g/blur later.
Just my idea... not sure how it will turn out.

I did this effect on my Thread in Landscapes called Fountain on the Lake. I selected the fountain and near surrounds in a layer and did not use the Orton effect on that layer at all.

Thanks for that idea Kaye....I changed my initial editing, then applied a mild
Orton effect to the whole image, then some blur in the border. I agree with Elaine that the overall look is too busy, but it was fun practice! Here's how it came out.
The 2nd image is with a little crop and no border.

Thanks for the input Elaine! I think maybe this is a case of "less being better".
This was a photo I took a couple of years ago before I knew anything about editing.
When I came across it the other day I thought I could improve on it, so went to town on it with some of the things I have learned here.
Now that I have restrained myself a little with the edit, I think it's a better image.

This is my neighbor's garden. She doesn't know I took the photo, but it will be
fun to give her a copy while awaiting springtime!

Thanks Eddie for your comments.....yes I am finding the same thing with the Orton effect. I have trashed several of them, and loved others.
