I posted some fine art maternity photo links to Maternity Shot (http://www.proudphotography.com/forum/showpost.php?p=28893&postcount=7) in Studio and got this immediate reply, which I find somewhat insulting.
"Pat
Thank you for posting! Your post will not be visible until a moderator has approved it for posting."
That was about four hours ago..no reply to my query.
Have I a history of posting offensive material? Has anyone been offended by anything I've posted?

Hi Pat, I always think your photos have an artistic slant to them, nothing has offended me, nor will it.
I will view any of your photos with an open mind, whether or not it is seen to be offensive.
I think its what’s called being “open minded “. Let the viewer make that decision.
Photography as an art should have no boundaries nor be restrained.
Admin may feel it has to take a middle stance on behalf of its viewers, especially if it was deemed to be of a sexual nature. But hopefully you will get it posted soon.

Regards
Mark

That's the weird thing, Mark. The notice appeared immediately..no time for anyone to check out the links (I had posted no images, just links, as the originating poster was looking for ideas for maternity photography. It all seems rather arbritary.

The forum will have some sort of Spam type filter running in the background
and picking up on key words, phrases and web addresses that it will automatically block and send the instant reply you got.

Heh, I would hope the words "maternity"and "pregnant" wouldn't be on a proscribed list. You may be right, though, perhaps because it was all links (I thought "Here are some links" a little redundant)perhaps it resembled possible spam. Wait and see, I guess.

I would not make anything from it... since it was immediate, it was just a section set up to need to be verified by a moderator before being made public. It was nothing personal nor anything aimed at you.

Just a side note, I have seen some maternity shots that I found offensive and can therefore understand why better being safe than sorry can apply to this section. Again, nothing that was ever posted here, but just to say that the possibility exists.

Don't worry as soon as it's cleared, it will be made available. Also take in mind that this is an international forum and not everyone is on the same time zone as yourself, so please be patient. :)

:) I'm anxious to see the pics that have caused such a problem! Just curious how the 'system' actually 'saw' the pics and deemed them necessary for moderation or was there something (wording I guess) in the post that caused it?

A note to Pat: I'm a huge fan of Ashley MacIsaac (from your town)!! Have you ever heard his fiddling live? He's awesome!! Ever since he did "Sleepy Maggie" years ago, I was hooked. He performed on the opening ceremonies of the Vancouver Olympics a few weeks ago. He & his hubby moved from Toronto last July and now live in Windsor Ontario.

Issue resolved...it was a spam filter...entirely understandable.
I can't concieve of a maternity photo that could be offensive.

Countryhermit; We don't see a lot of Ashley these days, though you're right, he is from the Island and a talent to be reckoned with.

Nice to see that the issue was resolved. :)

Oh, I saw an offensive maternity photo, please believe me that it not only offended me, but thousands of others. Let's just say that certain acts that an adult could do to another and maternity should not be taken photos of.

There is always one "sicko" in the crowd that thinks there are no limits, and I think it is great that there is a block here for that kinda thing. That block may be too aggressive, as in the case of stopping your photo, but I am sure we all agree it is better to be safe than sorry. :)

Did you happen to ask specifically what triggered the spam alert? That way, if it was perhaps a specific word or combination of words, you could avoid it in the future. :)

I do hope no connection is taken from my own comments

And that of Jerry’s comments

"There is always one "sicko" in the crowd that thinks there are no limits"

No, I don't think so, Mark. Sounds more like a general observation to me, and I suppose true to an extent.
When we get into that sort of area, though, jerry, I think I would cease to refer to it as maternity photography in favour of the more decriptive "pornography".
It was a spam filter that picked it up due to the entirety of the post consisting of links. In the end it had naught to do with content or wording.
