I am just curious if anyone else is using the Pentax k7, and how you like it. After hours and hours of research, my husband and I decided it, (among many others that we looked at) would be a great camera for our budget, and it should be arriving between friday and monday! I am so excited to start using it. I have seen some beautiful images composed with it. We ordered the 50mm 1.4 lens for it also, and I will start saving for some of the nicer, more expensive lenses like the 31 or the 77mm.
Anyone have any comments about the camera?

Hi Juli, from what I've read the K7 is a great camera. I have the pentax k20d and it certainly fulfils my needs as a hobbyist. If you are not aware of the pentax users forum, you will find many threads on the K7, link below

Hope this helps

Hi Juli, I got the Pentax K-x, and am over the moon with it.
There is a forum, especially for Pentax Users, which you might be interested in as well.

Thank you!
I am curious, I have a 50mm lens and the standard 15-85mm lens that came with the camera. I am having a hard time getting a feel for the ISO in certain lower lighting conditions, like shade outside. I don't like to use a flash, so this has been challenging for me. Would a higher quality lens help with the lighting on the pentax? I love the camera as a whole, but I am trying to figure out if it is the lens, me or the camera, that is creating the challenge lol.

Sorry, I mean I have a standard 18-55mm, not 15-85mm lol
Hi there. I'm new to this forum, but I'm a long time Pentaxian and I've currently got the K-7 and K20D. I just picked up the K-7 because prices reached about half of the original release prices (I got one for $695 and they were released at around $1300-$1400 here in Canada).
Just FYI, there is also another Pentax site http://www.pentaxforums.com/index.php and I'm on there quite a bit. I'm finding though that I'm looking for a little more breadth of discussion rather than just Pentax based, and that's why I'm here. But the other forum is really a great bunch of people. I'm "Leaf Fan" over there. Also, there's separate sections for user reviews of any pentax related gear, cameras, lenses, etc.
As for the K-7, there's a lot of debate about it and merits of upgrading from the K10D or K20D to the K-7. I really like the K-7, first and foremost for it's size and ergonomics. They've really made a great camera in a compact SLR package. As well, the other feature upgrades I like are the faster FPS, bigger LCD (920,000 dots), shake reduction in rotational axis as well as horizontal and vertical, 1/8000 max shutter, larger EV compensation range, 77 segment Multi-meter, video capability, dedicated live view button, dedicated ISO button, etc. I haven't had it for long, but I'm really enjoying it.
Hope that helps.

Thank you TJC, it sounds like I have made a good choice then :)
I am glad to hear others love the camera so much too!
