I have a chance to pickup either a Canon Rebel XT or the XTi,,
the real deal is with the XT,,, I did some research,, both are good cameras,,,, thoughts,,,,, also should I be concerned about the XT not having any dust removal system,,,,

My first was DSLR was an XT. Now it's my backup, but I still have it, and still use it.

My first DSLR was the XTI,I also now use it as a backup.
Last time I checked there IS some differences between the two. There is more than dust sensors. compare these two from canons specifications
http://www.usa.canon.com/consumer/controller?act=ModelInfoAct&fcategoryid=139&modelid=11154#ModelTechSpecsAct
and then:

9 point focusing system instead of 7... 10 megapixels instead of 8
You almost need to go to "your" local camera shop and "hold" each one in your hands to make the right decision. But in my opinion the XTI has way more to offer than the XT. IMHO
You may also consider the XSI, it is the XTI upgrade (in the rebel series):
