I took a chance and tried to shoot some sports action shots at night under lights. Results were OK and these are about the best I could get. I was using a 70-200 F2.8 lens on an Olympus E3, and tried various settings, any hints and tips for my next attempt would be very much appreciated. Thanks all.

John,
Can I ask what your shutter speed and ISO settings were for each shot?

John,
You've got some good shots. I have tried to take some myself under the lights and I know how difficult it can be. I would suggest increasing your shutter speed to help freeze the action. You might want to try the shutter speed around 1/500 or so at first to see if that gives you the desired results (example - players without the ball in the picture or the ball moving at a slow pace). If you still see some blur, increase the shutter speed. Keep in mind you may need to bump up your ISO settings as well to help compensate for the faster shutter speed. You may see some grain or "noise" in the picture with the higher ISO settings, but post processing will be able to help reduce some of it. Good luck - looking forward to seeing your next series.
