Hey all,

Can anyone explain why or what or even when? would I have reason to use a 1.2 ND filter! I mean Whoa... I was looking into this set and wondered this. Can anyone explain?
I can buy the .06 and
.09 seperately. OR buy the .06 and .09 with a .03. even! But again: Would one need a .03? I am puzzeled why Tiffen offers these sets like this? Guess what Im asking would the third filter in either set even have a use?

Thanks for looking.

I do not know the answer to this, or whether there is a correct answer, but I would guess that having a 1.2 ND filter would enable you to stop down the light even further, should you need it. it just gives you more options to play with. I have the 0.6 & 0.9 Cokin filters, but quite often stack them. However by stacking them, it potentially will degrade the image quality (more glass to penetrate), so I could overcome this with 1 higher strength filter. On the other hand you could stack the 1.2 with the other filters to stop down even further!
Not sure if this helps or not!

The 4 stop filter choice is easy... when you want to use a F/1.4 aperture on a very very bright day and still have a relatively slow shutter speed.
