Hi,
Can anyone help me please? I know, because of my stupidity I did a horrible mistake. I opened my 1GB memory card (without the camera) in my other computer. After that (more stupidly) I inserted the memory card back to the camera, and it can't be read.. then my computer can't read it anymore either, and requesting to format the disc. Is there any way that I can do to rescue my pictures? It's only 1GB though, but all my hard work for hours were in there...., I once do the same thing months ago for my other 1GB memory card (never do that to the 16GB), and it was fine. I never do such thing anymore until tonight.. argh!
Please help me!... what do I do?

Thank you for your attention

Tenny,

In my experience, I have not been able to recover the data when my memory cards or flash drives can't be read. I have had some success, however, taking the memory cards to an electronics store and having one of their experts take a look at it. My success in recovering the data was 50-50. I did some research and there is a photo recovery software for situations just like yours and the software is free to download. I have never used it personally, so I'm afraid I cannot recommend it. The software is Stellar photo recovery. I saw the link to download the software at this website:

I hope this helps. Good luck!

Hi mingkywingky,
When you opened the memory card in your "other computer", if you clicked on "X" by mistake to close screen when memory card was still in there, this will delete the memory from the card I believe.
If you format, that gets rid of all.

Anyway, I would still keep trying. Follow Eddie's suggestion and link above. All the best of luck.

Thank you Eddie and Kaye, for your kind attention. I've checked the website and tried to download the software, however, I wasn't sure to accept the aggreement, then I cancelled it. It's probably saver to do what you did Eddie, I'm going to take the memory card to an electronic store or having an expert to take a look at it. I probably will lost it, Kaye was right, I did close the computer (it's a laptop actually) while the memory card was still in there (I thought it's safer to do that). Anyway, I'll keep trying, hoping that I can recover the data, if not, I just has to learned form my mistake.
Thank you again for your advices, I really appreciated.

regards

Tenny,

Your data should still be there, the question will be whether or not it can be recovered. I would avoid using the memory card to take any additional pictures as the photos you take could overwrite the photos that are still on there. Even if you were to hit "delete all" on your memory card, it does not delete the photos completely - the images can still be recovered. Good luck.

Thank you Eddie, I went to an electronic store today (Best Buy) and asked someone at the camera's counter if he could help me, he couldn't though, he said as you've told me, the chance is 50-50, he suggested me to search in the internet for the recovery.
I also asked someone at the photolabs (kodak) since my memory card is Kodak. She checked if the pictures would come out in the machines, the machines says there are no pictures inside (olala..).
Yes, I will still keep the memory card and not using it, until I find someone who can help. It's my spare memory card since my 16GB was full. However, I used that for doing my homework (lesson 8). I guess I have to do shooting the sunset all over again, so I can review my work and make the opinion.
Thank you again Eddie, you really help me.
