Hello,
I have a Canon 1D mk 3, but am thinkinig of changing to the 7D.
My reasoning is thus... more megapixels, shoots video and still does 8fps compared to 1D 10fps.

Basically I want a versatile allround camera... the 1D is quite heavy and bulky and although is brilliant for sport and is generally a quality camera, the 7D seems to fit the bill a bit more, but I am worried about it not being full frame and not as good quality.

Does anyone have a 7D and can you reccommend lenses?

Or should I stick with the 1D mk 3?

Help would be much appreciated :)

Frances

My friend has a 7D and a 1DmkIII, he uses the 7D as a backup camera and has put about 200 shots on the camera since purchasing it. In the battle of photo quality, the 7D loses that one.

If you need video, I would suggest just purchasing an average $400 video camera. Those will give you video superior to anything that any dSLR on the market could ever do.

Not being full frame and having more MP = more higher ISO noise and all visual focal ranges being a lot closer (ie: your 35mm is now a 55).

Personally, if I was driving around a Ferrari, I would not be looking at a VW just because it was a little lighter... lol

Having said that, I have no idea why anyone would even ask this question. Who on this earth would better know the answer of what is best for you... BUT you!

Obviously, your preference is the key here. I agree that the 1DMkIII is a bit heavy, but it will run circles around the 7D in just about every other category. I have had a chance to play with the 7D a little bit, and I wouldn't even consider trading down from the 1D3.

Thanks for the feedback.
I think I'll stay with my mk3.
