washed out viewfinder

whenever i take pictures on bright sunny days, my meter readings are impossible to see inside my viewfinder. I am guessing it is the reflection from the sun off of my pentaprism (mirror) this is on a olympus e-500. are there any ways to get around this or any covers or filters that would help reduce the glare? this sometimes causes me to overexpose or underexpose because I am unable to see the meter readings. Any suggestions would be greatly appriciated

that is a pretty neat piece, do they make something simular that will fir over the optical viewfinder. i am trying to take all my readings from the optical viewfinder so i don't have to move back and forth from the lcd to the optical viewfinder
