I have been taking photos for over 12 months now without any formal training, I joined this photography course to gain knowledge that would take my photos to the next level, I have completed the first 4 lessons and so far I am glad to say that my photos have improved dramatically.

Hello, ausdg2! Like you, I'd been taking photos for a little while before taking this course. And, like you, find that after just a few lessons/pointers from the instructor, my photos and my way of thinking about them has improved quite a bit.

No regrets here, for sure.

Welcome to the forums.

Yeh Welcome aboard ausdg2. I too have been taking photos for many years but nearly aways on the Auto Settings. Although this produced some good results I knew I was not using my camera to it's full potential therefore I signed up for the course and I'm glad I did.

I'm already learning things and I'm only on lesson three.

I have found that when taking pictures now that I spend a lot more time thinking about the shot I want to take and then deciding on the most appropriate camera setting to take the shot, my photo shoots prior to starting this course usually took around 30 minutes, now I am finding my photo shoots last for hours, but the results speak for themselves.

I couldnt agree more. I believe that the more I practice, the more familiar with the camera I will become and the more natural the settings will be not that I want to rush my photography, but I dont want to take too long thinking about the settings and risk missing the shot.

Once I have it in my head, taking a photo should be like walking is to a toddler, at first we take tiny steps, then we get confidence, and start to go a little quicker, sometimes we have a fall but we get right back up and start again, then there's no stopping us and Mum and Dad are worn out chasing us around the room trying to catch us:D
