Hi all.

This photo is an old photo from when I first brought my DSLR. I have always wondered how I can rectify the 'UFO objects'. Is that just 'noise'? The photo was taken at ISO 400. Because I was on the Shutter Priority the camera selected an aperture of F4.0, would that have anything to do with the 'UFOs'? Any Tips would be appreciated. Or maybe they are UFOs and I've made a discovery:D

Unfortunately it's no UFOs. It's a common effect most likely caused by the filter you had on at the time in combination with large aperture. Those two blue UFOs are the two bright neon signs (in the middle lower part) reversed and up side down. If you look closer you can identify more spots in the sky - red, yelow and blue which all have their original bright light sources in the "real world".

It can be corrected by using smaller apertures and no filter. You're not alone with this:

Here is another example for you, I think I posted elsewhere here in the forums but looks like your having the same problem as I get.

EDIT: Here is the LINK (http://www.proudphotography.com/forum/showthread.php?t=4955) to the original post I made, It does say there what Canon told me about the problem.

Thanks for the replies. I will try without the filter and see. I thought it was something to do with the wide aperture.
Would shooting in RAW improve that quality aswell?
Cheers
