About a half mile from where they are striking. :)
Seriously I would read up on safety concerns regarding lightning. You don't want to be the highest, wettest object around. Getting hit by lightning could ruin a perfectly good photo.
Once you understand the dangers and precautions to take, look for a thunderstorm. They are rare at this time of year in the Northern Hemisphere.
