My laptop is very slow due to needing more memory. Is 1 gig enough or should I get 2 gigs of additional memory. I plan on adding even more files to my laptop in the future than what is already on it. I have many images for digital photography stored on my hard drive.

if its slow due to memory, u need more RAM, random access memory for your computer to be faster, otherwise the otherkind of memory is just storage. but 2 gigs is good get the 2 gig its better!

If you use Windows XP 1G is sufficient. If you use Windows Vista I'd suggest 2G as a bare minimum.

If you're going to upgrade then just get as much memory as you can...you'll definitely use it and be glad that you have it in time.

Well, if it's for digital pictures and any media of that sort, then I highly suggest the 2 GB, because 1 GB will go faster than you may think. Some pictures can be 5 MB if the quality is high enough. So in your case, I say 2 GB. Plus, if you still have room after all your pictures, you can put some of the stuff from your laptop onto it, hopefully making it a little faster...Plus you should consider getting a portable hard drive. I have a 200 GB one, and I have millions of pictures, audio, and video on there, and it's only taken 40 GB, so look into it for the long run...

System memory (RAM) is related to how much data the computer can deal with at one time. More RAM will mean you'll be able to deal with larger images faster, and run more applications at once. A total of 2G is enough for most purposes. If you want to store more data on the hard drive, you'll need to increase your hard disk space either by replacing the disc with a larger one (which will probably require reinstalling your entire system) or adding an additional drive. Since you have a laptop, an additional drive would probably have to be an external unit that attaches by USB (or perhaps Firewire).

Memory is used if you are running a lot of applications simultaneously, or you are using applications that are memory hogs. If you are storing more files and images, that's a different thing - then you want to increase disk space if you are low on that. If you still think you need additional memory: If you have two memory slots in your laptop, I would just get 1 G of memory and see if that makes your laptop run more efficiently with your applications. If you find you need more, just buy an additional 1 G. I've read of instances where the additional memory makes no difference.

first of all, check what the maximum capacity of RAM can your notebook have. most of the new ones can have upto 4GB RAM. files stored do not matter if whether you have 512MB RAM or 2GB RAM. storage will depend on the size of your hard drive and not the memory.it all depends on what programs do you actually have simultaneously open. if you only use your laptop for 3 - 5 applications all opened at once, you may live with only 1GB RAM. but if these programs are somewhat memory hog (especially games), then it's probably wise to move to 2GB RAM.another thing you have to look at is your OS. if you only have windows XP and do not plan to upgrade to Vista, 1GB RAM is already enough for you. but if you are planning to upgrade to Vista, then at least 2GB RAM is recommended.

i would suggest u to get an external hard drive ranging from 10 GB to 1TB(1000GB).for slow laptop, u shld scout for RAM..if u're not using it for gaming or using application that uses alot of memory(video editing), 1GB is enough..at the same time, u can goto www.ccleaner.com to get their cleaner for cleaning ur laptop.

i would go with the 2 gigs, the more mem the better. Esp with windows vista as it uses alot of ram, and if u are installing more programs, then more mem would be better. always best to have extra ram then not enough.

If all you're using a laptop for is image editing and such, 1 gig is plenty. If your laptop is running slow, try cleaning your hard drive and running your anti spyware/virus software to clean the bugs out.

1 gig is enough if you are running windows xp. You ould maybe also limit the the number of applications starting once the computer is tirned on by going to start > run > type: msconfig and select startupEbay is very cheap for memory if you are looking to buy some

Personally I'd always go for the biggest memory card.Pricewise if you could afford it, get an external hard drive - I've got 320gb, and I know they're pretty cheap these days. From experience, all computers slow down dramatically in time.Mine runs like a one winged carrier pidgeon on crutches, and it's less than a year old, just like all my others did.

Well, more memory does give you more speed in some areas and on some programs. If you feel like you can afford the 2g and you plan on having that particular computer around for a while then the 2g is definately the way to go but, if you're low on cash and/or are planning on buying another LT within a year or less, you'll probably want to go with the 1g upgrade.
