I am using Photoshop Elements 6. When saving a file, there is a plethora of file extensions that you can use; bmp, jpeg, tiff, psd, eps etc etc. The list goes on and on.

Which is the best format to use? Or do you use different formats for different things? I am only just starting to use the software, but at present I save my 'adjusted' photos and I am currently creating my own Christmas cards.

Many Thanks in advance

Jon

jpg and tif are pretty standard formats and can read readily by just about any software out there.

Just keep in mind that .jpg is a lossy format. Every time you save it it'll lose quality more and more.
