Lens for a Canon A560

I was looking at a telephoto lens for my phone camera (Yes I know it is a phone but that is another story all together) but the particular lens I was looking at had to be glued in place:eek:

Needless to say I did not go for that, however, this lens looks quite nifty. The only thing I think that would worry me would be if the lens magnet was not very strong, would it fall off? Also, would the magnetics affect the storage card in any way?

I would have the same concern regarding the security of the lens. I think the storage card question wouldn't be a concern. The magnets would have to be fairly strong and place right next to the media for them to do any damage. If going through the x-ray machines at airports won't harm them, I doubt if a magnet on the front of the camera would do any harm.

Hmm, I wouldnt have thought the magnets would do any damage otherwise they would not sell the lens but it was just a thought that crossed my mind. The only difference with the xray machine senario would be that you would not be taking a picture when it was going through the xray machine and therefore the card would not be in use whereas when it is on the camera it would be fairly close to the card which was being written to when the picture is taken but like I say, it should not do any damage otherwise they would not make them like that.

Lens falling off is a totally different situation and one which I think could quite easily happen unless it is a very strong magnet.
