I was having fun the other day!
Very nice Sandra. This is what I meant in my PM to you. There are endless options for still life photography.
I almost grabbed the fork and ate the cake whilst looking at the shot. Very realistic.
What did you use for your background?

I have a light box upstairs my husband made me for Christmas last yr then my son got me three pieces of velvet one black that I used here, one white I thought the cup and plate would disappear and one royal blue. Thanks for the compliment been awhile since I did this. It just takes me awhile to think ofsomething to do!!
Sandra, I think of many ideas for still life shots, but don't always have the time to set them up. I normally spend too long on this as I love it.
Think of some unusual glassware filled with water, perhaps colour the water, and put a bright coloured backdrop. Coloured wrapping paper is good for a background. Immerse something in the water and take a side view... just for some ideas.
Torch light under or behinds flowers I also love.

Thanks Craig and Micheal I only bought one slice at the grocery store when I picked up the roses - that way I am not tempted

Sandra,
The cake wouldn't have looked nearly so appealing if not for your beautifully composed photo!! I love what you did, and the combination of colors.

This is a great shot! Really nice setup. You did good. I do have a couple of nits though- I wish that you wouldn't have cropped it so close on the left, and clone out that one hanging green leaf on the right. Otherwise, perfect.
