For the pre-assignment exercise, my shots are all over exposed. The instructions are 10-15 feet from subject, A Priority (I used F16 thru F22) zoomed out and F3.5 zoomed in. All shots were overexposed. In M mode, I shot the same thing using F16 1/2000s zoomed out and F5.6 1/2000s zoomed in and got great results. What am I doing wrong in A priority?

Does your camera have a setting for Av ? I know on mine it has Av and A-Dep. On mine if accidently select A-dep and not Av the shots didn't turn out..

Try set the iso to 100 or 400 depended on conditions, if bright sunny day try iso 100, if cloudy try 200 and in the shade between 200-400 for a quick go.

If you have a windows based computer in windows explorer if right click on the image then select properties, then the tab that is called details it should give you a list of the information recorded to original photo with iso, shutter speed etc in there.

Thank you! Thank you! I set the ISO at 100 and repeated the exercise with great results. This will make a big difference for me as I live in AZ where the sun shines 334 days per year!!
You solved another problem for me!!!

Do you have a spare room in your house. :)

You probably have your exposure compensation set to a higher + number like +1, +2 or +3. Find out where the exposure compensation controls are for your camera and make sure it is zero'ed out.

In "A" mode Exposure comp is used, but its not used in "M" mode.
