I know not many people are into the B&W photos, but my color one looks terrible. I want to know how to take photos at the top of a mountain. I went to the mountains ont he way to Cherokee Indian Reservation (right outside of TN) I stopped to take a photo and it was freezing cold. I could not figure out what settings to use. (I think alot had to do with me being ice cold) My hands were froze! I wished I could have got a better photo.

Can you post the color shot?

It was very cold. Yeah I didnt have a tripod with me because I didnt think I was going to take any photos at the time. We were with my sister and her husband. He was already blowing the horn and I had only been out there for about 2 minutes if that. (Thats the bad thing about me....if my camera is with me and I see something I STOP!) I wouldn't use the tripod I have any how.

Does it not have a quick release? My monopod doesn't but, my tripod does. I think I'll be putting my monopod up on eBay and getting one with a quick release from Amvona (where I got my tripod head). That way I can switch easily. Tripods are steadier but, in a situation like you had, a monopod wouldn't have been as much of hassle to set up.

Yeah it has a quick release. The only release I see with that thing is the camera falling to the ground. It is in all honesty the cheapest made tripod ever. Its a sunpak what do I expect huh? I need to get a new one. I have an old antique one that is ALL solid metal and you have to be a bodybuilder to carry it around! It is very very very old though.

I REALLY like the stuff I got from Amvona, Susan. They ain't cheap but they're not real expensive either. The quality is there, too. Shipping is fast and they stand behind their stuff. You can find some carbon fiber tripod legs there and any type of head that you want. I've discovered I like the ball type over the pan & tilt type. Just a matter of preference, though.

As for the photo, I'm afraid I do prefer the colour one, The b&W one looks flat. But in the colour one you have the nice yellow in the trees etc and the cloud looks better. Just my thoughts though like you say everyone does not like B&W.

Have you tried taking the photo in black and white settings on your camera or is it just a conversion you did in Photoshop?

Hey, Susan! I love B/W but I really love this colored version. I think its a stunning picture and would have it hanging on my wall if I'd taken it. I've been looking at the landscape photo shares and its making my mundane area so bleak, photography wise...:(

Pick the color version...its a winner.

Thank you so much! I didn't care for them because I was rushed while taking them.
