This is kinda funny if you think about it.
Compare ISO to milligrams of caffiene. The higher the number the faster it works. But we all know sometimes the faster you work the less of a quality of job you do. So next time you have that high ISO think of it as caffiene in milligrams.

A book I'm reading on exposure (not the indecent kind - heh) uses a "worker bee with little buckets" analogy. The more worker bees, the faster the job gets done. I kinda like your better.

I like your analogy about the coffee. That will help me remember that.

Funny how things like that can make you remember stuff.

Enough of the bees already!!!!!!!
You keep reminding me of them.:)
How am I supposed to keep my hand steady whilst taking my photos thinking about bees!
Now coffee I can cope with.

Understanding Exposure from Bryon Peterson... an excellent book, highly recommended in the photography community. ;)

I think it's one of those "must reads" for anyone that wants to really understand exposure. Peter did a fine job in the classes, too. But, the classes aren't freely available to everyone. :)
I just picked up and am reading (again) "The Digital Photography Book" by Scott Kelby. Good stuff and REALLY funny, too!

I think I have that one too. He really does have a sense of humor. Is that that the one where the chapters are real short and he tells you how to take the different shots??? I also have one of his books for Photoshop. I'm still trying to get through Understanding Exposure.

Coincidence, I have that one too. :)
Scott Kelby, in my opinion, makes pretty good books, but has a very lame sense of humor. If he removed his weak humor from the books and stuck to the details, I would be way happier.
Where Kelby's skills really show are in his Photoshop books. He has less expertise in the photography world than the Photoshop world. Where his photography books severely lack compared to other works available out there, his Photoshop books are some of the best on the market for new and beginner users

That's the one, Debbie. "Understanding Exposure" is a bit dry but extremely informative.

Well, even HE says that right in his book. But, he also states he's attempting to take a pretty dry subject and liven it up a little.
Where Kelby's skills really show are in his Photoshop books. He has less expertise in the photography world than the Photoshop world where I sincerely think his are the best. Where his photography books severely lack compared to other works available out there, his Photoshop books are some of the best on the market for new and beginner users
Maybe so. I don't use PS so, I don't have a need for his books. I'll have to take your word for it

Pretty active forum today.

Yes UE is dry - I'm a fast reader, but when it comes to comprehension, I was out playing that day. So - I have to usually read something 20 times before I get it.
Jerry - True about Kelby and his photography skills, but I have picked up one or two new ideas. plus - he's one of those Nikon people. And he would never make it as a stand-up comedian.
