Ok I understand that a person that has a Nikon or a Canon will like that camera better than others, but I get so sick of "some" of the camera users saying OH THIS IS MUCH BETTER THAN THIS and so on and so on...its like a car.....If you cant drive it ...it isnt worth much. Not everybody likes to drive a BIG gas hog SUV because they think they are hard to drive some people would rather drive a mini coop, it is all what you like. (as long as the person using the camera likes it that is all that matters) Sorry for the long post.

It's called, "snobbery", Sue, and ya find it everywhere. In computers, cars, there used to be (and probably still is) a lot of it in the Linux operating system arena. It seems some people just have to have something that's "better" than what someone else has. Status symbols. Arm Candy. Whatever. Quite frankly, they need to grow up and get a REAL life. I told a guy at work about the camera I've got because I know he's an amateur photographer. Not to try to impress him, just to let him know what I'm shooting with. Well, turns out he's "one of those". He's got a Canon Zurblesnurberzipzops X3008s with a lens that will burn the retinas out of a gnat at 300 yards and blah, blah, blah, on and on and my Olympus is crap. Ya just wanna smack him! But, being a Christian... wouldn't do my witness much good... heheheheh I'd love to do it, though. Maybe squirt him with my rose! heheheheh

I'll second that.....Squirt him.

You're spot on with your post. I have come to the conclusion that as long as the equipment that you have does the job that you want it to do, then what does it matter what other people think.

Oh and by the way susan, that was not a long post!:)

well I felt like I was going on and on and on, but I had to vent. Some people are just rude.

Your Camera is only as good as the person using it, It will not matter what camera you have if you don't know how to use it.

I read one magazine the other day where a reader had run his own photo competion at home with friends and family, and the wining picture was taken by a a cheap compact camera.

Also one thing I have noticed, is that in these bench tests, the market is improving for non-nikon-canon camera's. The Sony A700 and Samsung E510 are competing with the Nikon D40X and Canon 400D at present with some magazines rating them better.

But like you have said, and advice in other threads, you need to buy what you are comfortable with, and what suits your needs.

Blimey, must stop talking now, I have work to do!!

Its great to be dedicated to good equipment, but some people are just mean about it.

I have always been told that someone that has to brag about what they have is really insecure. Best to just ignore them and be thankful for what you have. After all money can't buy happiness.

Well, some are brand loyal and like to show it, others are just snobs about it for sure. I am still pretty new here, but on other forums that I frequent, it is often blatant.

I am quite loyal to the Nikon brand, but respect everyone's own choice of device to take pictures with. It really *IS* the photographer and not the camera that gets the really nice pics.

My little observation, though... 90% or more of the real "snobs" are people that have JUST got their equipment, have very little experience and enjoy boasting about what they have and most of all... have very little real life experience or skill. Those are the ones that I try hard to ignore.

Jerry - no money doesn't buy happiness - but it sure makes life more interesting for some (but forget they have to pay it back later).
