Just read on a web site about a new memory card that has WIFI in built. From a quick read I believe that it just negates the need for a USB cable, but it may be the way forward, shots going directly to your PC, Solve the problem of Memory card space (That is if you are within range of your PC). Also enables you to wirelessly upload your pictures to the web such as Flickr. It only seems to come in the SD variety so no use to me, but who knows where it will lead to in the future!

That sure would be cool if they had them for all of the other cards. You would think once something like that is invented they would have it in all of them

Negates the USB cable *IF* you're running a wireless network or if you have the receiving adapter. If you're not running a wireless network, you'd better have a card-reader (most newer computers and printers do anyways).

Do you have a link?

Reading one of the reviews it says

the pros on this product are:

*moves images in the background to internet without USB acquire wizard.
*greatly enhances the convenience of still image photography
*works with all cameras
*works with 17 online services

the cons are

*reduced battery life
*no way to see what the card is doing or control the card from the camera
*does not handle video
*does not handle raw
*does not automatically connect to open public access points

Technology really is frightnig these days. It is amazing what you can do.
I however will not be going for one of these cards as it is easy to just slip the card in my computer and upload the images that way.
