... the new camera. Here's the scoop on the capture. It's VERY overcast today. I'm about 18-20 feet away from the subject. I'm in full MANUAL mode. The other stuff you can get from the exif.
BUT, I added just a weeeeee teeeeeny bit of digital zoom. Can you tell? Here's why I'm surprised at the results. 1) Even though I was in fully manual, the camera gave me all the hints in the readouts via the viewfinder 2) It actually FORCED me to go into manual mode because digital zoom is not available in auto (I *LOVE* that!) 3) You should see the shots I got in auto -- TERRIBLE!! All in all, this camera and I are going to be a good team. I just have a good feeling about it.

This is the Olympus SP-550UZ, Jon. Mind you, I shot this through glass. No filters or extraneousness lenses. I'm still learning the manual settings but really, the camera did all the work! I just focused and snapped.

It (and you) produces good pictures. It looks (just checked it out on the net) like a nice camera with loads of features. You are obviously happy with it.

I'm over the moon about it, Jon. I told someone else, the hard specs don't do it justice. And, the reviews, although very good, are also very conservative. Sure, it's got a lot of features BUT it's the features and the way they work in combination that make this camera a real gem.

I can't wait til the zoo opens and Spring gets here!! Hope the server here has a lot of space! They're going to need it.
