Is that a Black Magic or a Don Juan? Roses are my favorite. I have some miniature roses that are really cool. Can't wait for the first flush this Spring! This camera is going to get a workout!

Excellent tight shot!

Nice Pic Sue, I can smell it from here :)

Gary, if roses are your thing, may I ask you a question.

I have brought my wife some rose seeds. They are name your own rose things which me being an old romantic, thought would be nice.

However, I was not sure when these have to be planted. Have you ever planted a rose from a seed?

I've tried rooting, grafting, bare-root, and fully-grown transplants, Andy, but the ONE thing I have not tried is from seed. So... thanks for the suggestion. Here are some sites I dug up on the subject (no pun intended ;)):

It doesn't look all that difficult. Considering my luck with rooting and grafting, though, it will be a challenge! heh

Thanks Gary, I'll have a look through the links and weed out (:D) the ones I dont like.

Seriously, thanks for looking. I'll have a go and see what happens. The pack is quite cool, it comes with a certificate and everything for you to name your own rose. You can then send the information off to imperial roses to register it on thier database.

Stunning, absolutely stunning. The best of my world, flowers and photography combined into a wonderful shot.

Sue, What lens did you use for this photo and did you have any additional attachments like macro filters etc for it.

Sue -

I love the red. Was this taken recently? If so - I'm jealous. I have some reddish-pink and white shrub roses, but alas, won't see any sign of them until spring.

Andy - you'll have to keep us update on the rose seeds. I have never heard of starting roses from seed.

Will do, I'm interested to see what happens with them myself too!
