I had to take a portrait in a pinch for a newspaper article, and of course the lighting in my house stinks. And retaking it tomorrow is not an option.
I need to know if someone can help edit this picture all the way around. Lips and hair softened, and any other boosting and/or background correction.
I will be glad to email the hard copy as this is the compressed version, but I will need it back as early as possible in the morning.
If you can help, please let me know.
THANK YOU!!! :)
Hi jmkbsk,
I have given this a fairly quick edit knowing that you wanted it in a hurry.
I am not sure if it is what you want ?
First is your original, second my edit.

There is a lot more going on here that could have made the photo a LOT better.
First, the light in your room may have been bad, but you used in camera flash and even with that, it underexposed for some reason. II advocating staying away from in camera flash at all times, when possible.
Second, location is not great. Head inches away from a wall shows the harsh shadows easily, giving it the look of a mug shot more than a portrait.
Third, normally eyebrows, eyes and lips are the sharpest features in a photo, we don't want to be softening them, if anything, we want them a little sharper.
There are many other things, but well, they involve the basics, and those are things that can be learned here.
Good luck with your paper assignment. :)

Here's my version.
Lightened his hair a bit (though probably a bit too much trying to get some detail in it), got rid of the blemishes and shadow (have him stand away from the wall next time) and just some general "fine tuning".
