Something that I used to do in the winter (Jan-Feb). I miss doing it a lot. I'm not sure if I could have a chance to do this kind of sport anymore:(
I took the pictures with Sony Cyber-shot and Canon Rebel T1i (#3). The exif data for pic #3: f10, 1/160s, ISO100, 55mm (all the exif info can be seen by clicking the photo options on the top right corner on the gallery):)

Thank you for taking a look. C&C are appreciated:)
Tenny, these are really great shots. Having never lived in a place where it snows, I have never had a chance to try this. It looks like hard work!
I particularly like shots 1 and 3, with 3 being my favourite. I love the colour / exposure in this shot, whereas I feel that No. 2 is slightly overexposed in the sky, but perhaps a different WB setting may have helped this??

Thanks for your nice comments Kaye. Actually it's not that hard, all we have to do just walking on the snow using those racket shoes. It's fun. The only hard part is, like in any other winter outdoor activities, we have to keep our hands and toes for being frozen. Luckily there are the toes and hands warmer, a kind of gel bags that we put in our gloves and shoes. That will keep us warm for 6-8 hours. It's good for the camera bag too. Therefore, we once went out for snowshoeing at -26dgrC.
You were right, #2 is overexposed. I overdone it. The sky was actually blue. I took it with my compact camera. I was trying to brighten up the snow, but it ruined the sky. Thanks Kaye:)

Tenny, you are so brave going out in these temperatures, I would be frozen solid.

I love snowshoeing! it's fun, good exercise and you get to see some nice places that you can't get to in the winter otherwise.
I like these shots. they capture the moment quite nicely.

Love snowshoeing! nice shots as well.
Decent idea about tossing a handwarmer in the camera bag as well. It would keep the temp up just enough to extend battery life. I was just reading an article about a photographer who shoots a lot in arctic regions, and he rubberbands one to the bottom of his camera body while out shooting to keep the battery life decent in sub-zero temps.
Hasn't been too cold here the last couple winters so I don't do anything out of the ordinary really. Lowest it has been is -10F (-23C) so there isn't the need to take extreme measures other than keeping a spare battery in an inside pocket.

Yeah, what was I thinking? I think because didn't care so much of the low temperature. But don't worry, we just did a quick walk and got inside as soon as possible. Some people did have a frosty on their hair brow and eyelashes:eek:

Yes, this is very popular in Canada. I'm glad that I could have this wonderful experience during my stay there. I even got 4 kind of snowshoeing certificates, for doing this in four winter seasons;) Two of them are pins of the snowshoes and the mukluks.
Thank you bambe, I'm glad that you like the pictures:)

Thank you very much Scott, and thank you for your comment of how to safe the battery life too. Doesn't rubberband the handwarmer to the camera, can harm it? Because it would be too much heat.

Thanks for the nice comment Tim, I'm glad you like the pictures. I don't know when I'm going to see snow again. Kinda miss it, even though I don't like the cold of winter.

great pics Tenny, really love them - what were you thinking? Home by the fire is where I would be, anyway there is no way we would ever get those temperatures here, I complain when it gets down to 8c.

Thanks for your comment Wanda. Yup.. I probably wasn't thinking at all:D All I thought maybe just the fun of it. Never had such experience before.
But I'm back home now, get a hot temperature all of the year (above 31c);) Thanks Wanda.

Very cool shots, Tenny. I have always wanted to try this but don't get much snow where I live.

Hi Eddie, thanks for your kind comment (I'm sorry I missed this). Yeah, at least you have to go to Big Bear to do all winter sports, right?
