I FINALLY caught this guy after much waiting! Not the best quality due to me shooting through double-pane UV glass and it's raining. But, MUCH better than when had that crappy add-on lens I had on my Kodak Z612. The range on this guy is about 160 feet. Have a look:

I think he likes Mourning doves, too, Andy. I also misidentified him. This is a Red-shouldered Hawk. Not a Broad-winged.

This is really cool to have this type of hawk in your backyard.

Actually, I've tried before but the SECOND I open the door, he's gone in a flash. The UV glass is sort of like a one-way mirror. He can't see me. But, when I open that door even a crack -- POOF! -- he's gone. I think I know where he's roosting. When the weather warms up and dries out, I may set up close by and see what I can come up with. He's a beautiful bird and I'd LOVE to get a few shots of him with out the UV glass and distance between us.
