Can anyone recommend any free Watermark Software. Are these secure or can they be erased by image processing. I have used Elements Layers but do not think layers are secure as I've been able to clone them out of Photo's, hence the reason to see if anything else available. (I have a copy of iWatermark from 2005 that came with Digital Camera Magazine.)
Thanks

Hi Eddie,
I have tried several watermark programs but most I have tried can be overcome if the person tried hard enough. In the end, I used photoshop and put a watermark across my image. (see www.hickerman.com to see what I mean) The problem with them is that you have to put the watermark across the photograph so that if it was erased, it would remove the best part of the photo. This is not an ideal solution as it spoils the photograph but it depends what you want to watermark it for.
If you do find any other software that works, please let me know as I would be interested too.

Andy -
I'm sure you do this already, but when some photographers put watermarks across their photos, they save one version as a psd, complete with layers. The watermark would then be on one of those layers. Another version would be saved as the jpg file for viewing or posting. Then, if someone wants to buy one of the photos, the original has been preserved, the watermark can removed and then saved in a format that would be used for printing.

Thanks Debbie and Andy for your comments re watermarks. What I've done in the past is to open an image and save as " a.n.other ", then use this copy for layering etc,. which still leaves my original as was taken. Have not used the psd extensions , these are photoshop I presume, probably available in Elements, are there any advantages in its use.
Thanks

PSD extension is Photoshop, all's it means is that if you save it as a PSD file you can then play about with the layers again should you wish to, however if you save it as Jpeg, you have to flatten the layers and then you can not play with them again after.
