Does anyone have and experience/ tips about Macro lens and/ or extension tubes?

I have just ordered a set of macro lens, a +1, +2, +4 & +10. They seem just like filters to on the end of the lens to enable you to get closer to the subject. I have been advised that this a the cheapest way to start on macro photography, but you lose some picture quality around the edges of the shot.....

The extension tubes, I wasn't originally going to buy, but I seemed to get a good deal, so thought why not! They sit between the camera body and the lens to extend the focal length thus getting nearer to the subject, without losing picture quality.

There you go, there is my whole knowledge on the subject, but am quite excited by playing with the new toys once they arrive!

Jon, these are ALL that I can use. Since I've been into the prosumer cameras, I've had them for every one of them. You can see some of my macro shots in that forum along with my "invention".

I can remember a lot of your macro shots and was suitable impressed, so much so that this is one of the reasons for going with some macro lenses. It adds another dimension to my normal photography, i.e. kids, landscapes and nature.

I am aiming for close ups that make you wonder what it is (if that makes sense!). I know I will be on a steep learning curve though!

I cannot remember/ find your 'invention'......
