I went out with the intention of getting some river birds, and whilst having a brew saw this beauty on the fence :)

I think it is an Alder Fly, however it could be a Caddis or Dark Sedge

The detail is incredible, Andy, wow!! How do you like that lens? It seems to work quite well for you. I am looking for a new one and I am trying to decide between that one, the 1055mm f/2.0 and the 24-70mm f/2.8.

Thanks Eddie, I love the lens and wouldn't swap it for anything; I cheated with these as I used the tripod (I bought a new one the other day and it needs a bit of muck and a scratch or too); I would highly recommend the lens, when you hit the sweet focus it really opens your mind to what you are seeing.

Thanks again

Andy

Fantastic shots and detail Andy. This is the lens that I want, but doubt I will find it second hand at a reasonable price.

You never cease to amaze me Andy with the clarity and perfection og your Macros! I always admire them.

Thank you for your comments, I have had a good week on leave and managed to shoot well whilst relaxed. I always try to really relax when shooting macro, if you shoot with tension, it passes down the lens and the shot isn't sweet; especially whilst hand holding as your breathing goes off.

Thanks again

Andy
