I'm not too sure on this shot. Not quite sure why. Let's see what others think

Andy -
I wasn't sure about this one either, put can't put my finger on it. I think for me personally, I'd like to the faces and expressions of the girls. It does draw you in - but something is missing.

Yeh, I thought it may be the lack of faces, and expressions, perhaps if the sisters were walking the oposite way but I'm still not sure. Do you have this picture in Colour too anicole? I'd like to see if that makes any difference.

I do have the color versions. This shoot was for 'the grandkids' and this was before we actually started and before they changed into the 'picture clothes.' I'm always very careful about kids ... if they don't trust you and feel comfortable, you won't get the right expressions. They were running around, playing and being kids. I managed to catch them walking away on several different bridges. I tease them and get them hamming so that when it's time for the good stuff, they're comfortable with my tone and requests.
I like the feel of not having the faces showing. Most people remember a small time in their lives where imagination ruled and you were a pricess or a cowboy hero or whatever. These shots reminded me of those times.

Thanks for sharing. I understand where you are coming from.
I do prefer the colour picture.
I think the fourth picture is a great shot too.

I am the other way, I like it but I am not sure why!!! I definitely prefer in black & white. I take photos of my son when he is walking away, but I am never sure why I like it. Maybe I'm just weird!

I like the color picture better also - my favorite is the first one. I assume grandpa with the two girls??? This one is priceless. B&W workes well for this one.

I love the photos of walking away down a path or a road. It reminds me of lifes journey, and how fast life goes by. I like both the B&W and Color one as well. Out of all of your photos that is the photo that I like the best!!!

I like the black and white better, leaves you open to imagine...makes me wonder where they are off to, and it sees like they are off on an adventure, and maybe feeling some freedom.

Looking at the B&W pic... its the DOF and maybe the way it was cropped. The far girl looks blurred in such a way as if that was accidental (the head is just starting to drop out of clarity). If either more blur or no blur was used, it would push the pic into showing what the photographer had firmly decided they wanted.
The next is that the leading lines of the wall that they are walking is chopped off on the right in an awkward location. Lower the crops on the top and bottom and widen the picture so that their "road" shows an even continuity. Even if that blurs off in the distance, it adds a sense of completeness to the picture.
Hope that helps. :)
